Prototyping is coming to a close!

After a week of hard work, Titanium is almost done prototyping! Later today our mentors will be coming in to review all our prototypes and give us some feedback.  Here are just a few of the prototypes we’ve been working on. (Click here for the video recap)

Prototype 1 is a vertical conveyor belt system.  It has conveyor belts with hooks that will allow it to pick up and stack both totes and cans.

Prototype 2 has a two pivot point and two piston system to grasp onto the totes and cans.  Click the links to watch it in action

Prototype 3 is our defensive prototype.  It’s designed to cut into the landfill and bring as many totes as possible into our alliance zone.

Prototype 5 is a set of jaws that use motors, gears and locks to grab onto the game pieces, using purely horizontal motion instead of an arching motion.

Prototype 7 uses prongs attached to motors to grab and let go of totes and cans with minimal movement.

After all the presentations, the mentors and the cabinet reviewed each prototype. We talked about which prototypes were most feasible and capable and how we would play the game if we were to use certain prototypes. Prototypes that make the cut will be refined and proceed into metal prototyping starting next week.
