For the 2012-2013 Robotics Competition, Ultimate Ascent, our team decided it would be best to climb the pyramid, instead of throwing Frisbees. Our mechanism involved using measuring tape to pull the robot up to the top of the pyramid.

While we couldn’t perfect the mechanism by the time build season ended, we were able to complete it after competition season, successfully climbing the pyramid at Boeing’s Family Day, where we educated elementary and middle school kids about robotics and STEM.  We named our robot Feathers McGraw, in honor of a character in the show “Wallace and Gromit” who scaled a building using measuring tape.
